Με μια απίστευτη ανακοίνωση η αμερικανική πρεσβεία στην Αθήνα προειδοποιεί τους Αμερικανούς πολίτες, κυρίως αφρικανικής, ισπανικής και ασιατικής καταγωγής που επισκέπτονται την Ελλάδα να είναι ιδιαίτερα προσεκτικοί λόγω των υποτιθέμενων "αυξανόμενων κρουσμάτων βίας και επιθέσεων εναντίον αλλοδαπών" και εμμέσως πλην σαφώς υπονομεύει την προσπάθεια καταπολέμησης της λαθρομετανάστευσης.
Η πρεσβεία καλεί όλους τους Αμερικανούς τουρίστες που έρχονται στην Ελλάδα "να είναι ιδιαιτέρα προσεκτικοί σε όλες τους τις μετακινήσεις στην Αθήνα και σε άλλες μεγάλες πόλεις, να παρακολουθούν τα τοπικά Μέσα Ενημέρωσης και να καταγγείλουν άμεσα στην αμερικανική πρεσβεία στην Αθήνα ή στο αμερικανικό προξενείο στη Θεσσαλονίκη κάθε πιθανό κρούσμα ρατσιστικής βίας".
Ουσιαστικά οι ΗΠΑ ρίχνουν προειδοποιητική βολή στον εθνικιστικό-πατριωτικό χώρο που δεν αποδέχεται την "πολυπολιτισμικότητα" των εκατομμυρίων ξένων που έχουν κατακλύσει μια χώρα που μέχρι το 1990 ήταν κατά 99% Έλληνες χριστιανοί Ορθόδοξοι.
Η αμερικανική πρεσβεία έθεσε μάλιστα στη διάθεση των Αμερικανών πολιτών και τηλέφωνο επικοινωνίας όπου μπορούν να τηλεφωνούν καθημερινώς και δωρεάν για να ζητήσουν τη βοήθεια των αμερικανικών αρχών σε περίπτωση που πέσουν θύματα βίας στην Ελλάδα.
Πολιτικοί παρατηρητές επισημαίνουν ότι η ανακοίνωση είναι ουσιαστικά ένα κτύπημα "κάτω από τη ζώνη" της αμερικανικής κυβέρνησης στην ελληνική, αλλά και ένα μέσο πίεσης στην εγχώρια πολιτική ελίτ να δραστηριοποιηθεί πιο έντονα κατά των πατριωτικών κύκλων που δεν εννοούν να παραδώσουν την χώρα στους λαθρομετανάστες..
Παράλληλα η αμερικανική πρεσβεία καλεί όλους τους Αμερικανούς πολίτες να αποφύγουν να μετακινηθούν αύριο ημέρα εορτασμού της εξέγερσης του Πολυτεχνείου σε όλους τους δρόμους πέριξ του Ιδρύματος καθώς και στις οδούς από τις οποίες θα περάσει η πορεία, αλλά αυτό είναι σύνηθες και γίνεται κάθε χρόνο.

U.S. citizens of a rise in unprovoked harassment and violent attacks against persons
who, because of their complexion, are perceived to be foreign migrants. U.S. citizens
most at risk are those of African, Asian, Hispanic, or Middle Eastern descent in

We encourage all U.S. citizens to review their personal security plans; remain aware
of their surroundings, including local events; monitor local news stations for updates;
and report specific incidences of targeted violence to the U.S. Embassy in Athens or
the U. S. Consulate General in Thessaloniki at the numbers below. U.S. citizens
should maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to enhance their

U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Greece are encouraged to enroll in the
Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. By enrolling, U.S.
citizens make it easier for the Embassy or nearest Consulate to contact them in the
